A diagnostic opinion is generally requested for neurological examnination in absenteeism and disability. However, it is the limitations that have the most important consequences and in many cases this is explicitly requested.

The goal a neurological assessment in cases of absenteeism and work disability is generally to determine whether there are any limitations related to a neurological condition. Indications include stagnant recovery, substantiating a claim assessment, substantiating a WIA case file, wage penalty prevention, or wage penalty remediation.
Our neurologists are familiar with the legal assessment frameworks and, within that context, have knowledge of insurance medical tools.

How does a neurological examination proceed?

Application

Once we receive the request for a neurological consultation, we will contact the person requesting the examination. within one business day to schedule the examination.

The examination

The examination consists of two parts. The first part includes a detailed discussion with the neurologist about symptoms and limitations. The second part consists of a physical examination in which higher cerebral functions (thinking, memory, planning), cranial nerves (functions in the face), motor functions (movement, strength), coordination, reflexes and sensibility (feeling) are tested, among other things.

Additional research

If, after the examination, there is still uncertainty about the cause of the symptoms, the neurologist may choose to request additional (imaging) testing such as an MRI scan. This will of course be discussed beforehand.

Information on progress

Our secretariat can inform you about the progress of the examination at any time.

Right of inspection and correction

The report is subject to the right of inspection and correction. This means that the person concerned receives a copy of the draft report before sending it to the applicant and can indicate whether it contains an incorrect representation of facts.
