Neurological examination as a second opinion

A neurological expertise can be used as a second opinion to assess an ongoing treatment. For example, to test it against the most current treatment guidelines. Neurological expertises are also used in objection and appeal proceedings when the outcome of an earlier expertise or assessment is in dispute. In a conflict between an insured person and the insurer or between the employee and the company doctor, the person involved can also take the initiative for a second opinion.
Our neurologists are aware of the legal assessment frameworks and in that context have knowledge of, among other things, insurance medical instruments such as the FML.

How does a neurological examination proceed?

Application

Once we receive the request for a neurological consultation, we will contact the person requesting the examination. within one business day to schedule the examination.

The examination

The examination consists of two parts. The first part includes a detailed discussion with the neurologist about symptoms and limitations. The second part consists of a physical examination in which higher cerebral functions (thinking, memory, planning), cranial nerves (functions in the face), motor functions (movement, strength), coordination, reflexes and sensibility (feeling) are tested, among other things.

Additional research

If, after the examination, there is still uncertainty about the cause of the symptoms, the neurologist may choose to request additional (imaging) testing such as an MRI scan. This will of course be discussed beforehand.

The report

The findings are presented in a report. This is sent to the person requesting  If the applicant is not a physician, the report will not be sent to the applicant but to the physician listed in the request form.

Our secretariat can inform you about the progress of the examination at any time.

Right of inspection and correction

The report is subject to inspection and correction rights. This means that, before sending the report to the applicant, the person concerned receives a copy of the draft report and can indicate whether there is an incorrect representation of facts. Depending on the context in which the examination takes place, the person concerned can also block the transmission of the report.
