An intelligence test is used to assess overall IQ. IQ consists of many different components of (daily) functioning. Examples include school skills, memory, logical thinking, analyzing problems and spatial insight. The results provide a picture of the strengths and weaknesses of a person's functioning. The examination is performed by a neuropsychologist and can either be part of a Psychiatric examination conducted by Sazyes or requested directly (i.e. without Psychiatric examination) by an insurance physician, company doctor, attorney or the court. The request is always in writing and is accompanied by a number of questions that the neuropsychologist tries to answer after the examination. The examination is independent, meaning that the neuropsychologist has no interest in any particular outcome. The neuropsychologist makes no pronouncement on the degree of disability; this is beyond his/her expertise.

Intelligence Research by Sazyes

What does the research involve?

The examination consists of two parts. The first part consists of an interview that begins with an explanation of the examination, what happens to your data and the rights you have in doing so. Then your symptoms will be identified. You will also be asked about previous treatments, use of medication and use of stimulants. Because a person's complaints cannot be seen separately from his or her social situation, this will also be discussed. During the second part of the examination, a number of tests and questionnaires will be administered. These measure intelligence. The total duration of the examination is about 3 hours. The interview takes place without the presence of family or possible supervisors. This is to avoid influence and allow you to speak freely. Sometimes it may be important to request additional information, for example from your family doctor. This is only possible with your prior written consent.

What happens to the data from the survey?

The data from the study are presented in a written report. At the end of the report, the data are summarized in a conclusion or reflection. This is followed by answers to the questions. In case of a combination of examinations by different specialists, your data will, where necessary, be seen by several specialists. In the context of quality control, it is also possible that a supervising specialist may view your data.

Right of inspection and correction

The so-called "right of inspection and correction" applies to the report. This means that, if you wish, you will be given a copy of the draft report and can indicate if there is any misrepresentation of fact and.

Observations, test results and conclusions are, of course, outside the right of correction. The draft report will be sent to you by the responsible neuropsychologist. If the examination is part of a Psychiatric examination , the draft report will be sent to you by the psychiatrist together with the report of the Psychiatric examination . Should this lead to comments on the intelligence test, the psychiatrist will submit this to the responsible neuropsychologist for evaluation.

Professional secrecy

The neuropsychologist is bound by his/her professional secrecy. However, when the examination takes place in the context of a current insurance policy, a legal regulation or Psychiatric examination this professional secrecy is not unlimited.

Since at Sazyes most investigations take place within this context, this means that as a rule you cannot block the sending of the report to the applicant. Should other laws and regulations apply in your specific situation, these will of course be discussed with you prior to the investigation. The report is issued to third parties, in your case the applicant of the report. If the applicant is your employer, the report will be sent to the company doctor involved, not to your employer.
