Personality Survey

A personality assessment is a psychological examination for the presence or absence of a personality disorder. A personality disorder is a psychiatric diagnosis that, in brief, involves character traits that exist from young adulthood and cause problems in multiple areas of life, such as school, work and relationships. The personality assessment consists of a comprehensive socio-biographical history and psychological testing in the form of an SCID-5-P.

Combination with psychiatric examination

An important requirement for diagnosing a personality disorder according to the DSM-5 is that the associated symptoms cannot be explained by another mental disorder, nor can they be attributed to the physiological effects of a substance or a medical condition. For a definitive assessment of the presence or absence of a personality disorder, current guidelines recommend combining the evaluation with a psychiatric evaluation.

The examination

The assessment will be conducted by a psychologist. It begins with a conversation in which you will be told exactly what the assessment entails, what will happen to the data collected, and what rights you have in this regard. Next, the assessment itself takes place, which consists of completing a comprehensive questionnaire. In particular, you will be asked about symptoms or problems throughout your life that are typical of someone with personality disorders, and the impact of those symptoms on your functioning over the course of your life. The questionnaire consists of two parts. The first part covers biographical information and details about your work history. The second part is a questionnaire that systematically assesses various personality traits. If necessary, a professional interpreter can be provided for this assessment.

The report

The findings are presented in a report. This is sent to the applicant for the study. If the applicant is not a physician, the report will not be sent to the applicant but to the physician listed in the request form.

Information on progress

Our secretariat can inform you about the progress of the examination at any time.

Right of inspection and correction

The report is subject to inspection and correction rights. This means that, before sending the report to the applicant, the person concerned receives a copy of the draft report and can indicate whether there is an incorrect representation of facts. Depending on the context in which the examination takes place, the person concerned can also block the transmission of the report.
